The lights are flickering as I post this and after having spent the majority of the day yesterday without power, I'll be lucky to get this posted before it goes out again. For the last 2 days, it's been raining all day and then the rain has been freezing on contact with everything, which has resulted in a major ice storm.
Yesterday when we looked outside and saw our trees like this, we knew they were probably goners.
But looking outside at them today and seeing that they are somehow holding up under all that weight seems somewhat like a Christmas miracle. Jared cut most of the branches off yesterday in an attempt to save them, but I don't think day 3 is going to look that great considering it is still raining right now...
And here are just a few more random ice pictures to show how thick it is out there.... Check out the Christmas lights!
The lights are still flickering and even though I have more to say, I'm going to shut the computer down before we lose power again.

Dad said our birch trees looked that bad when we had the bad ice storm in Wichita a few years ago and they came back. As long as the branches don't break, those trees are so flexible that you'll be amazed. The ice storm is supposed to be headed our way tonight so we may be inside tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have heat. STAY WARM!!

As I read this post, I'm actually sitting at your computer in your warm house with your dear family. Thanks for the place to stay tonight- Luke and I are so grateful and thankful for your friendship. :)

We took some very similar shots the past couple of days, but we haven't had a chance to post them because we've been without power for most of the day. It's been back on for less than an hour and I'm sitting here checking everyone's blogs. You can see what my priorities are!

Aren't those trees something else?! Your neighborhood looks like mine! Our oak tree looks more like a weeping willow right now, and you should see what the one weeping willow in the neighborhood looks like!

Love your ice pictures. It is so sad about all the trees. Travis is burning ours in our backyard as I type this. We lost most of our trees which makes me sad but it could have been so much worse.

Kelly, I keep looking at these pictures... it is amazing how something so pretty could be so destructive. You sure captured the beauty of it. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!!!
